Deterioration occurs when an individual moves from their normal condition to a worse clinical state. The elderly are vulnerable, due to age and comorbidities, so changes in their condition can vary from subtle and small, to sudden, with quick deterioration that may become severe and even life-threatening.
Care and clinical staff play a vital role in monitoring the needs of residents they support. To improve outcomes for residents, it is vital that care and clinical staff know how to recognise changes, and respond appropriately, and in a timely manner.
This course will explain how to recognise changes in a resident’s condition in a timely manner, to ensure early intervention and improved health outcomes.
This is a Developing course on the Altura Learning Pathway and is recommended for all care staff working in residential care.
