Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards
January 16, 2019 | Altura Blog
The Deprivation of Liberty of Safeguards (DoLS) are designed to protect the interests of vulnerable people including older people and those with a disability. The Safeguards ensure that people are free to live their lives in the least restrictive way possible.
Our new course explains the background of purpose of DoLS and when a deprivation of liberty may apply and when the Safeguards would be relevant and how to apply for an authorisation. This course is perfect for care staff, senior care staff and management.
Some useful tips:
- Our Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards course explains the current DoLS system.
- Every staff member who is responsible for the care or support of vulnerable people should be aware of the DoLS and their own role and responsibilities upholding people’s liberties.
- Altura Learning’s Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards course is the latest in our Safeguarding series and complements our Minimising Use of Restraint course and the Mental Capacity Act courses.
