Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS)
Course Description
The Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS) are designed to protect each individual’s basic right to liberty, freedom of movement and choice. This course provides an overview of DoLS and the roles and responsibilities of staff involved in the DoLS authorisation process.

– Describe the background and purpose of the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS)
– Discuss what constitutes a deprivation of liberty and situations in which the DoLS would apply
– Outline the process involved in applying for an authorisation under the DoLS
